(HELP ?) Circles provide narratives on Training, Explanations, and Hints. These can be related to the overall screen, or to specific items on the screen.

You found the (HELP ?) Circle narrative for “Using the Search/Select button to build Distribution Lists” by clicking the (COMPREHENSIVE HELP ?) Circle on the “SEND EMAIL TO PRAYER PARTNERS” Screen in PrayerLink or any of the other screens related to “Emailing” that have this (COMPREHENSIVE HELP ?) Circle.

Before proceeding, please be sure you have previously clicked the (HELP ?) Circle that leads to the narrative on ”Overview and Basics: Using the Email Function”. Being familiar with the general information about the “SEND EMAIL TO PRAYER PARTNERS” Screen may be helpful to you.

The following information relates specifically to using the “SELECT & SEARCH” Function to find and select people for the “WHO GETS THIS EMAIL?” Window.

Using “Search & Select” for Creating Distribution Lists:

If you want to send a message to a specific group of people, one method of building the distribution list is to use the “SELECT & SEARCH” Function to find and select the intended recipients from your Prayer Partner database of contact records. This lets you build a group of recipients “on the fly” instead of using the default distribution list.

To build a distribution list with the “Select & Search Function”, click on the “SELECT & SEARCH” Hyperlink in the Navigation Panel .

Then use the “Search & Select” Function, inputting your search parameters on the “SELECT & SEARCH” Screen to identify the recipients. On that screen there is a (HELP ?) Circle narrative that provides instructions on the use of the “SELECT & SEARCH” Screen.

After inputting your parameters, click the [Search/Select] Button on that screen. This will place the members or recipients selected (if they have an email address) into the “WHO GETS THIS EMAIL?” Window. Then you can send to all of them, or uncheck the ones in that group you do not want to receive your message.
